THE ROLE

As a Wireless Test Engineer working on Vivint’s Internet team you will be responsible for appraising key wireless technologies and subsystems that will become an integral part of our next generation millimeter wave based wireless access networks. The role will require liaising with our technology partners to evaluate state-of-the-art wireless solutions, and working with the program management, network engineering and deployment teams to test and characterize wireless technology solutions in the lab and field, including supporting integration of technologies into the production network.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:

  • Participate in interactions with key technology partners, including evaluation and testing of chipsets, subsystems and complete wireless system solutions
  • Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art wireless systems, such as 802.11ad, and future 5G systems
  • Plan and execute lab and field tests of various subsystems from chipset evaluation platforms through to complete wireless system solutions, characterizing performance
  • Deliver clear, concise professional verbal and written communication that is appropriate to the situation and audience

Average Salary - $99,000 - 119,000

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH AND WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience with designing, developing and testing millimeter wave based systems, preferably IEEE 802.11ad, is essential
  • Understanding of key principles of the PHY and MAC layer of WiFi, 802.11ad, 4G and 5G systems
  • Working knowledge of Linux and experience with basic scripting, such as Shell or Python, to setup and configure systems, and automation tasks
  • Experience setting up and configuring LANs
  • Ability to design and build test fixtures and setups to support testing in the lab and in the field
  • Experience with developing and executing test plans, including experience with test case automation
  • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to clearly communicate with both business and technical audiences
  • Must have BSEE with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • MSEE or higher degree is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience using test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, power meter, vector signal analyzer/generator and working at millimeter wave frequencies
  • Ability to travel domestically
